Creating an elegant room with the help of an ornate mirror

Creating an elegant living space can be a difficult thing to do. But you don’t have to be an interior designer to create a sophisticated place to sit and relax in your home. All you need is the right type of decoration and the right furnishings.

Having a room where you can relax and unwind and entertain friends and family is really important in any home. It’s thus then important to understand why paint colours, furniture pieces and décor pieces are so important if you want to create an inviting room.

Painting the walls in a neutral colour is always a good place to start; pastel colours including shades of cream or beige are increasingly popular. Ceiling mouldings are also useful when wanting to create an elegant room; friezes, cornicing and ornate lighting roses can also help here.

Modern furniture and long drapes hung from an ornate curtain pole can add to that feeling of elegance as can fabrics such as leather or suede on chairs or sofas. Hardwood flooring can also help achieve that elegant sophisticated feel, as can ornate fire surrounds, mood lighting and not forgetting large decorative wall mirrors, which not only provide a statement piece of art but can also give the room that ‘wow’ factor you’ve been looking for.
