February 2017 Design Trends:
Love Is In The Air:
It wouldn’t be February with a nod towards Valentine’s Day! Typically quite a cliché holiday Valentine’s Day is much more than decorating your home for a few days with “I love you banners.” This holiday gives us an opportunity to add a touch of romance to our interiors but in a subtle more contemporary way. We may be biased by our heeart shaped mirrors are perfect for this trend and can achieve the modern Valentine’s Day look perfectly due to their metal coloured frames. Instead of the traditional pink and red colours associated with Valentine’s Day use colours like silver, champagne, gold or cream, that will easily blend into your current décor and bonus, they can be used all year round! Quirky wall art; whether it be a heart mirror, plaque or illuminated sign are all fun ways to add a romantic feel to your home whilst still remaining elegant and stylish.
In January we discovered that muted metals were the next big thing for 2017! Reflective surfaces work hand in hand with these finishes to help add warmth and elegance to your home. Muted metals such as pewter and brass are warming colours that can add luxury to your interior, combine this with a mirrored console table or bedside table and the warming tones can be instantly projected around your room. Use reflective surfaces as accent pieces in your home by selecting one or two furniture items and allow them to create an affluent, glamorous feel. A further benefit to using reflective surfaces is that they can open up your room due to their light reflective properties making them an ideal choice for narrow hallways or small, dark nooks in your bedroom.
New opulence is all about our long standing love affair with Art Deco! Art Deco is a timeless trend that will always look beautiful in any interior but 2017 will see Art Deco taking on a whole new style. Inspiration is taken from classic Art Deco; whether it be the sleek clean lines or the elegant nature yet this will be used with more contemporary designs to create a versatile look that can enhance any interior. Our beaded mirrors and Venetian Pearl mirrored furniture ranges demonstrate this trend perfectly, with their stylish beading adding opulence yet in an understated elegant way. All furniture and mirrors boasts clean lines with some offering classic Art Deco motifs.
